Antique Large Volume Wooden Book Press

Up for sale is an antique large volume wooden book press.  I bought it from an antique store going out of business and was told by the seller that this book press was from the 1820s.  I do not know if this is certain or not.  This book press has imperfections in the wood.  There are chips and other blemishes present.  I do not know how to test the book press to see if it functions.  There is a keyhole for the drawer.  I do not have the key for it, but the drawer is not locked anyway.  The book press is approximately 37'' high x 29'' x 27.''
